Hi everyone! I'm writing this post as I'm waiting to catch my red eye flight to New York. I've been to New York before but this will be the first time I'm going for leisure. I'm excited to eat to my heart's content (I have quite the list of places to try), go to a Broadway show, check out the Met to live out my Blair Waldorf moment and  most importantly, just soak it all in. I'm definitely not a light traveler, but I do have a few key pieces I always bring with me, including this sweater from Kenneth Cole. As you may know by now, I love pieces that are flowy and drapes nicely. This sweater is made up of a thicker material and encompasses both of these factors in addition to nice zipper details that puts the cherry on top. Overall, it's a good quality cardigan for the price point. The color I have is no longer available but the chili color is on sale for about 75% off! A similar option is available (two toned panels) though a tad more expensive. Regardless of which color you go with, it's a great piece that can be worn during all seasons. We are heading into June, but here in the Bay Area we have been experiencing some cold(er) days, and I have been taking advantage to pull this sweater out every chance I get. I'm bringing it along with me to New York in case it gets a bit chilly!

Chambray Shirt & Tulip Skirt

Shirt: Gap (on sale!)
Skirt: Aritzia (on sale, sizes running out fast!)
Shoes: Zara (similar here)
Wallet: Marc by Mac Jacobs (similar here)
Bracelet: Tiffany & Co

Hi everyone! Today's post is a little later in the day than usual. I just got back from a work conference in Napa, and while it's always enriching to attend these sessions, it's usually jam packed with workshops and activities starting early in the morning and late into the evening. I'm glad to be back so I can have some time to blog. Thanks for your patience! :)

On the previous post, I talked about how a gingham shirt is a closet staple. Along the line of closet staples, a chambray shirt is definitely another item on the list that should be in every lady's wardrobe. I love wearing a chambray shirt to tone down a dressy outfit while still keeping everything put together, like in this outfit. During the summer, I like to bring a chambray shirt with me in case the weather gets cooler. It's also great to wear to the beach with a bikini underneath. You can leave the first few buttons open to show off your bikini top as well. A chambray shirt is one of those pieces that can go with everything and is constantly on repeat for me.

I picked up this skirt from Aritzia during the recent sale (sizes are limited online but if you live near a store, I would definitely check it out!). The tulip cut adds in some fun details while making it easier to walk in. A common problem I have with these high-waisted skirts is that it's constraining to walk in, but this solves the problem. I had a hard time debating between the grey or black (black is always more slimming), but decided the grey color would be better for the summer.

Thanks for reading and hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Distressed Jeans & Gingham Shirt

|| Outfit Details ||

Jacket: H&M (imilar here)
Jeans: Madewell (similar here)
Shoes: Coach (similar here)
Bag: Tory Burch (older model of the Robinson, or similar here)

Distressed jeans for work? Why not? One of my favorite pair of jeans are these from Madewell. They are so soft and do not stretch with wear. I've had so many pair of jeans that would fit at the beginning of the day, but by the end of the day I am frantically looking for a belt to keep them up. I used to only wear ripped jeans on the weekends as I felt they were too casual for work. However, I have found that pairing them with a button down shirt, a structured coat and a good pair of heels can transform any outfit. I still wouldn't wear these if I'm having a meeting with my VP, but they're good for a casual Friday. They're probably not a good idea if you work for a consulting firm either, but definitely for a tech company in Silicon Valley. Just use your best judgement! :)

Along with a good pair of jeans, I feel that every girl should have a gingham shirt as a closet staple. Gingham is such a timeless print that never goes out of style and looks good on anyone. It is also so versatile! In this outfit I am wearing the gingham shirt with jeans for a more relaxed feel, but it also looks great tucked into a high-waisted pencil skirt with a cardigan and statement necklace for a more put together look. The one that I am wearing is from JCrew Factory, and although I like the fit and cut, it is a pain to wear each time because it gets so wrinkly! I have a steamer so it's pretty quick for me to get the wrinkles out, but if you don't have a steamer and you hate ironing, I would look for another one. If you find one that doesn't wrinkle and is a good quality, please share in the comments below!

On another note, I will be in Napa Valley for the rest of the week for a work conference. If you haven't already, please follow me on Instagram @serendiepityblog for more updates. Just a fair warning... there may be an overabundance of food pictures as I stuff my face. :P As always, thanks for reading - hope your week is off to a great start!

P.S. Do you think this shirt looks blue and white, or black and white (third pic down looks like it's navy and white!)

Polka Dot Dress & Current Sales

Dress: Anthropologie (old, similar here)
Jacket: Nordstrom (old, similar here)
Shoes: JCrew

I always laugh when people ask me what's the special occasion every time I wear a dress. Little do they know... it's probably because I'm too lazy to think of what to wear or because I know I'll be eating a lot and wanted to hide my food baby. As I post more, you will notice that most of my dresses tend to be more flowy, making them the perfect outfit to wear with any meal. Comfort while enjoying your food is essential. ;) I got this dress from Anthropologie last year during their 20% off sale because I loved the cut out of the back. Unfortunately, it's not available right now, but this is one of their "classic" dresses and they tend to have them every year in different colors. I'll keep an eye out and let you guys know if it does become available. In the meantime, this dress from Asos is like the reverse of the one I'm wearing and they are currently having a sale (details below).

I received an email from Aritzia yesterday letting me know of their insider sale starting on Thursday. For those of you who are not on their mailing list, check back in one week and the site should have 20-40% off sale. Some other stores with sales going on include the following:
1) Macy's - additional 20% off (ends 5/15)
2) Banana Republic - 40% off (today is the last day! ends 5/14)
3) Asos - save $15 off 100, $30 off 150 and $50 off 200 (ends 5/14)
4) Club Monaco - save up to 30% off on dresses
5) Nieman Marcus Last Call - 30% off shoes and handbags (through May 18), and $25 off $75 with code 25May (ends today)

I haven't done any shopping yet but might be browsing through some websites during my lunch today or when I need a quick stress reliever... hehe. Have a great weekend everyone and as always, thanks so much for reading!

Hi everyone! This weekend has been a whirlwind of events as I celebrated my best friend's birthday, my sister's birthday, and Mother's Day all in one weekend! I just wanted to do a quick post about this BP shirt from Nordstrom. I love versatile pieces that can be worn for any occasion. It's even better when that piece is extra soft and feels like a blankie on! Here, I styled it for work, a night out, and a casual weekend outfit. It pratically works with any pairing. Can you tell I'm a little obsessed?

On another note, I hope you all had a great Mother's Day weekend. The weather was beautiful here in the Bay Area. My family and I went out to lunch and we spoiled my mom with some flowers and her favorite perfume, Chanel No. 5. My parents gave up everything to give me and my sisters a better life, so I like to treat them every opportunity I get (or simply just because). Don't forget to tell your parents you love them! Thanks so much for tuning in! :)

Laced Up: Zara Top, Nordstrom Shoes & Burberry Bag Review

Cami: Banana Republic (old, similar here and here)
Jeans: Madewell
Shoes: Hinge from Nordstrom
Bag: Burberry
Accessories: Burberry watch

I always look forward to Thursdays because that means Friday is right around the corner. Thursdays also mean happy hour with your coworkers in celebration of the ending work week. I work in downtown so there are many locations with great happy hour menus all within a 10-15 minute walk from my office. Having said that, skinny heels, no matter how comfortable, are not ideal for walking on the sidewalk. That's why these heels by Hinge from Nordstrom are so great. The block heels make them super comfortable to walk in, and the leather doesn't rub against your feet. I can wear these shoes to go shopping for hours without having to worry about any blisters forming!

I recently purchased this waistcoat from Zara a few weeks ago and have definitely been getting my money's worth out of it. The asymmetrical cut gives it a fun and unexpected element, and the lapels drape nicely on you. One of the key thing I always look for in these types of tops is whether or not it drapes nicely. I can see myself wearing this piece year round, with a long sleeve shirt for Autumn and as a layering piece in Winter.

Last but not least, I wanted to do a quick review on the Burberry Banner bag for any of you who may be interested. I remember looking around for reviews before deciding to purchase it but there weren't many out there. I originally wanted to get this in black as an everyday work bag, but the black was only available in the smooth leather. This made the bag less structured and more prone to scratches. On the other hand, my navy color came in a grainy leather, which means the scratches were more hidden. I didn't want to have to fuss about protecting the bag especially since I knew it would be going through a lot. I'm glad I went with the navy since it's still a neutral color but different from the typical black. Overall, it's a great bag. I only wish it was slightly bigger so that my laptop would fit, but that is probably a good thing because the heavy weight will make the bag lose its structure quicker. If anyone wants a more in depth review, please leave a comment to let me know!

Wishing you all a great Mother's Day weekend. Follow me on my Instagram @serendiepityblog if you want to see what I'm getting my mother for her special day!

Monday Madness

::Outfit::

Top: Lush from Nordstrom
Jacket: Zara (old, similar here)
Bottom: Banana Republic  (currently 35% off your purchase)
Clutch: JCrew
Shoes: JCrew (on sale and an additional 35% off clearance items)
Accessories: Burberry watch (additional 25% off for Macy's Friends and Family Event) & Forever 21 necklace

Happy Monday everyone! Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes. I had  a low key celebration by going out for lunch with my family and dinner with the significant other.

Mondays tend to be jam packed with meetings for me, and as a result my outfits usually tend to lean more on the business pro side. It is very hard for me to find work pants that fit off the rack, so I was ecstatic when I tried these Sloan pants from Banana Republic and the length was perfect with no alternations needed to the hem line! In fact, I've accumulated them in three different colors (navy blue, maroon, and black). Not only do they fit great, they are also super comfortable and requires minimal ironing, if any at all. I've tossed them in the wash so many times and they still hold up nicely.

I also scored these JCrew wedges for $50 when they were having a 50% off clearance. One of my friends still had her student ID and so we were able to get an additional 15% off of the clearance price. If you're a frequent JCrew shopper, I would definitely recommend making friends with someone with a student ID because all of the discounts add up and you can save a bunch! These wedges are easy to walk in and great for running around from back to back meetings. They do run a bit small, so I would recommend ordering half a size up.

Thanks so much for reading. I hope you have a great rest of the week! :)
